Let Them Eat Cake… Or Not!

Ahhh the wedding cake!  Much revered and much eaten over many centuries, the wedding cake has evolved from a mince meat pie in the seventeen hundreds to a multi-tiered extravaganza enjoyed exclusively by royalty. Today, brides and grooms everywhere have become royalty on their wedding day and many a wedding cake reflects that tradition.  However, in the last few years there has been a big trend away from cakes and our staff at The Main Event has set up many a cupcake and candy bar in lieu of the traditional wedding stack.  Frankly, though, I am ready for something new, or something old, or just something else at the end of the wedding meal.  Here are some ideas for wedding desserts that offer a fresh look at sweet endings!

Pies for the Eyes- no not apple and peach (been there, done that) how about visually enticing lemon meringue, cocoanut cream or pecan pie?  If you still want that candy bar theme try Jill Waldman’s very own recipe creation: Twix Pie!

Late Night Delights – How about stacks of scrumptious donuts.  Here in Colorado, Milk Run is our favorite donut shop!

Candy Floss – Well that’s what they call it up north in Canada.  But here in the states it’s cotton candy and my favorite thing about serving it is matching it to the wedding colors!  A wedding designers dream!

This Baby’s on Fire – A few years back we set up a Banana’s Foster station.  Not only was it delicious but it was quite a show!
